Angel Mr. Baby (June 20, 1989 - October 1, 2003)

Home / Angels and Friends

Mr Baby was born on June 20, 1989. He was one of five kittens born and one of three black cats. Before his official name was given to him, the black cats were identified by which ones had white spots on their chest. Mr Baby was called "No Spot" until his personality as a loving and gentle cat just wanting to be loved changed it to Mr. Baby.

He was a big cat with thick paws weighing in at about 15 pounds at his heaviest. At times he reminded me of a grizzly bear. He had a quiet meow that could barely be heard except at meal times. He loved to lay in the nursery after my first child was born and would often snuggle with her when she would fall asleep on the sofa as she grew older. He loved to be held and never seemed to mind when she would pick him up and carry him around. He never bit or scratched.

He loved to chase his tail. Watch the birds eat outside his window. He would always lay on my legs at night so I couldn't move. He would always chew on my silk flower arrangements. I'm sure he hated when the kids would dress him up, but he never complained. He loved catching mice and would bring them proudly to me. He was so full of love!

On September 24, 2003, Mr Baby went to the doctor because of concern for his sudden weight loss. He no longer looked like a bear but a clone of his tiny mother. He weighed only five pounds. I learned that he had a tumor in his colon that was inoperable. I brought him home to be with the family who loved him and to keep him happy his final days. I had no idea that it would only be one week. On October 1, 2003, too weak to hold his head up to eat, he slowly slipped away, waiting long enough for the children who never made him angry to say goodbye. I was with him when he came into this world and I was with him when he left.

We love you Mr Baby, always! Mom, Dad, Sarah, Josh, & Madison
